Berlin Mayor In Zagreb: “Does Anybody Work, Or They Just Sit And Drink Coffee”

“Does anybody work here? I see everyone is sitting and drinking coffee,” said the Mayor of the German capital Berlin ‘tongue in cheek’ after walking around one of the main squares in the Croatian capital Zagreb on a sunny Thursday morning.

Klaus Wowereit was in the Croatian metropolis for the first time as guest of Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic. Wowereit had Bandic as his guide as he walked around the town visiting such places as Kamenita vrata, St. Marks Church, the fish markets and Parliament buildings. Wowereit was overall impressed with what he saw but he did notice one fault.

“The streets are alive and full of people which is nice, but I noticed you have a problem with renovating facades on some buildings,” said Wowereit.
