Croatian tax authorities are to intensify their surveillance on internet gambling in the country. According to Croatian law, a foreign company can not organise or advertise any game of chance, including internet lottery games, sports betting, or sweepstakes in Croatia. Citizens who gamble on foreign online websites, and place their bet in the territory of Croatia, will be liable for fines ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 kuna.
The Tax department has sent out warnings to citizens advising them that being involved in any online game of chance, organised by foreign companies which do not have the right to under the Games of Chance Act, will see them breach the law and face statutory penalties.
