Borna Ćorić has knocked Rafael Nadal out of the Cincinnati Masters tournament in the second round on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old Croatian, who is now ranked 152nd in the world after missing 12 months of the tour with a shoulder injury, upset the 22-time Grand Slam champion with a three-set victory 7-6 (9), 4-6, 6-3.
“Very, very special. I was out for the last two years. I didn’t play on the big stage and in front of a big crowd. I was honestly just looking forward to playing this match, as I hadn’t had that in the last two years. Now obviously that I have won, it’s just, yeah, kind of crazy, I would say,” Ćorić said after the win.
