Laurent Simons, the boy genius from Belgium who has been in Croatia since Saturday, ended his visit to Croatia on Monday.
He used the last day in the best way, by visiting Zagreb, where he witnessed the top scientific and technological innovations of two large production facilities, all organised by the Nikola Tesla Network association.
In the morning, he visited the Minister of Science and Education, Prof. Radovan Fuchs, Ph.D., with whom he spent almost an hour talking about the Croatian educational program as well as the opportunities offered in Croatia during studying for a PhD. They also talked about Laurent’s plans for further education as well as where he sees himself in the future.
After the conversation with the minister, he visited the impressive Končar Laboratory for large electrical machines and drives, where he was received by the director, Ph.D. Dalibor Filipović Grčić.
The director took him through the laboratory and showed him the instruments for measuring the conductivity and durability of different materials, as well as the numerous possibilities that this facility offers, which left an impression on the young scientist.
They ended the day with a visit to the famous Rimac car factory, where he looked at the car production process, which he remained fascinated by, and his trip ended with that visit.
Young Laurent has only the best memories from his three-day trip to Croatia, where amongst other places he visited Šibenik, Karlovac, Pliitvice Lakes and the birthplace of Nikola Tesla, Smiljan, and he promised that he will return to Croatia very soon.
Laurent was born in the Belgian city of Ostend. He completed primary school at the age of six and started his university studies at the age of nine in Belgium.
He earned his bachelor’s degree at the age of 11 and completed his master’s degree at the University of Antwerp at the age of 12. These accomplishments have earned him the title of a child who represents the future of global science, and his name is known worldwide.
