Retired Croatian water polo coach Ratko Rudić, who has won 36 medals as a coach at major events, making him the most successful water polo coach ever, is being targeted by Brazil to coach their national team.
“It is true, it is an option, but is still along way before being realised,” said Rudić, before adding.
“In a few days, by the end of the week, I will travel to Brazil. There I will see the state of things and talk to officials from the Brazil Water Polo Federation. It is definitely an interesting idea. They are the organisers of the next Olympics, and they have big ambitions. We will see after talks there,” Rudić told daily Jutarnji list.
During his career Rudić coached four national teams: Yugoslavia (1984–1988), Italy (1990–2000), USA (2000–2004) and Croatia 2004-2012). With three of these teams he became world champion. He also coached three teams to Olympic gold medals (1984, 1988, 1992 and 2012).
