The spectacular bridge over the River Cetina near Omiš on the Croatian coast is now connected and preparations are underway for its ceremonial opening.
The 216-metre long Cetina Bridge, which is 70 meters above the River Cetina and connects the Komorjak and Omiš tunnels, was one of the most complex infrastructure projects in Croatia.
Omiš is located on a narrow belt between the mainland and the mountains, along the mouth of the River Cetina river which made this an extremely difficulty project.
The total estimated construction value is 358 million euros, and the bridge should solve the problem of kilometre-long traffic jams that form every summer in Omiš along the Adriatic highway from Split to Omiš.
Construction of the Cetina Bridge began back in 2019 and it is part of the Stobreč – Dugi Rat – Omiš fast road project. Further bypass roads expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
The opening ceremony of the bridge will be held later this week.
