The island of Korčula is arguably one of the most beautiful off the Adriatic coast.
The small town of Vela Luka, located on the western side of the island at the bottom of a wide bay, has been a popular tourist destination thanks to its authentic charm and little coves.
Vela Luka, meaning ‘big harbour’, is the second largest place, in size, on the Adriatic islands, with a lot of the locals making a living from fishing, agriculture, and tourism.
Vela Luka also has a number of interesting archeological and architectural spots, most notably Vela Spila (Big Cave), which is one of the most important prehistoric cave dwellings in Europe.
The Vela Luka Tourist Board have just released an appetizing new promo video. Check it out.
