Russian chess Grandmaster and former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov wants to obtain Croatian citizenship, reports daily newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija...
Political activist Kasparov, who is considered by many to be the greatest chess player of all time, is a well-known critic of Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, and is reportedly looking to secure Croatian citizenship. Kasparov spends most summers in the Dalmatian town of Makarska, and has a good understanding of the Croatian language. One interesting point is that Kasparov, who has lived outside of Russia for the last few years, applied for Latvian citizenship in October 2013.
