CNN, one of the world’s leading news channels, will for the first time be following this year Croatia’s oldest ATP tournament – the 26th Konzum Croatia Open Umag – which starts on Friday…
American journalists will be at the Croatia Open for three days and filming reports about the tournament, together with interviews with the players participating in the tournament, including Gael Monfils and Borna Ćorić.
The ATP tournament in Umag has always played a very important role both in Croatian tennis and in tourism, while this year additional effort has been invested to promote the tournament even more abroad and increase viewing ratings. Considering the global reach of CNN, their reports from Umag are bound to significantly contribute to strengthening the position of the tournament within ATP, while also promoting both Umag and Istria as a first-class tourist destination.
This year’s Croatia Open, which is held from 17-26 July, will apart from Monfils and Ćorić, feature Fabio Fognini, young Australian tennis hope Dominic Thiem and the experienced German Philipp Kohlschreiber. The legendary Goran Ivanišević will play an exhibition match, whilst the undisputable king of Umag, Carlos Moya will play against the 1999 winner Magnus Norman, with world-famous DJ Bob Sinclar in charge of the music for the party. The Istria Gourmet Festival will also be held during the tournament at the venue.
CNN’s programme is available in 212 countries and more than 250 million households worldwide.
