Split, June 26, 2023 – After the announcement of the construction of a hotel in the Žnjan area of Split, which will operate under the well-known Mövenpick brand of the global Accor group, this major tourism project has new investors.
New investment groups from Calgary and Prague have joined the MPPD company on the project, and the start of construction for this tourism investment in Dalmatia is scheduled for this autumn.
The new partners are announcing further tourism investments in Croatia and the region, supported by their years of experience in similar projects. The MPPD company became known to the wider public after bringing Accor to Croatia, managing the Mövenpick Zagreb hotel property, and they will also open the first Pullman hotel, another brand from Accor’s portfolio, in the capital city in January 2024.
With 75 years of experience in the real estate market, the Calgary group is investing over two billion Canadian dollars in projects in Canada and the United States. They are well-known for the construction of the boutique hotel Mercer in Canmore, Alberta, Canada.
Damir Špoljarič, who resides in Prague and has Croatian roots, has been the owner of a data center company for 17 years. He has developed numerous residential projects in Central Europe and is a private investor in several technology companies.
“In Croatia, as an attractive tourist country, and in Split, as an extremely sought-after destination, we have recognized enormous potential. Furthermore, the Žnjan beach in Split is one of the most beautiful places and deserves a high-category hotel that will offer guests a top-notch experience of Dalmatia,” says Špoljarič.
Inspired by Mrduja
The project for the new Mövenpick Split with 156 rooms is designed by the award-winning Croatian architect Alan Pleština from Pulsar Arhitektura studio, while the attractive rooftop is conceived by the renowned award-winning interior designer Kristina Zanić from Dubai.
“The hotel’s location right on the coast with a beach and a spectacular view of the sea and surrounding islands was the starting point for the concept and inspiration. The shape is inspired by the local mountains and colors, and each room has a breathtaking sea view. The hotel rises towards the sea, representing a contemporary interpretation of the mirrored reflection of the sea and panoramic views of sailboats. This area is known for sailing, and one of the most famous regattas is Mrduja, where hundreds of sailboats sail through the Split area. Therefore, our idea for the hotel name is Mövenpick Regata Split.
The rooftop will provide a unique experience of watching the sunset over the sea, with a bar, gourmet experiences, and an infinity pool. The organization and interior design follow Mövenpick standards, combining local tradition and contemporary interpretations. It offers spacious rooms and suites, wellness, spa, gyms, restaurants and bars, as well as a comfortable and inspiring environment for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions),” emphasize the architects from Pulsar Arhitektura studio.
