The first stage of the 300 million euro Brač Medical City project, which is currently the largest in health tourism in Croatia, is in its final stages…
Construction on the medical centre complex Medis Brachia, which will be located in the village of Nerežišća, is expected to start in 2016. The complex, which includes a special clinic for healing tumors, dependence hotels, apartments, wellness and spas, sports facilities and restaurants, will open up 1,300 jobs on the island when it is complete. Necessary permits and documentation are expected to be obtained by the end of this year.
“A clinic with revolutionary methods of curing the worst kind of tumors will lift Nerežišća, Brač and Croatia to the top of the world for medical tourism. Our country will be right along side Germany, Austria, Italy and Japan,” said the head of Nerežišća’s council.
One of the investors in the project is Malta-headquartered Croatian Land Holdings Plc, who have invested in similar projects in Italy, reports Poslovni.hr.
Croatia’s Tourism Development Strategy until 2020, and the National Health Development Strategy until 2020, both focus on the development of all forms of health tourism and developing a platform to raise the competitiveness of health tourism in Croatia.
