Croat Part of the First & Only Non-Korean K-Pop Group in the World

EXP EDITION – the first non-Korean k-pop group in the world.

The first and only K-pop group in the world to be made up of all non-Korean members features one Croat.

Šime Košta, who is from Zadar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, is part of the four-member group EXP EDITION – the first non-Korean k-pop group in the world.

K-pop, short for Korean popular music or Korean pop, is a music genre originating in South Korea, characterized by a wide variety of audiovisual elements. K-pop encompasses the modern form of South Korean pop music drawing inspiration from a range of styles and genres from around the world.

EXP EDITION was born in New York as part of an art documentary project and are made up of Šime, Frankie, Hunter and Koki.

Šime moved from Zadar to the United States during his high school years to further pursue his musical training and now he holds a degree in Music Theatre from Arizona State University.

Growing up in Croatia, he has performed in numerous concerts and TV shows, including winning then popular Turbo Limach Show (appearing in a total of 6 episodes).

Following their success in New York, EXP EDITION decided to make the move to Seoul, Korea, in order to pursue their dreams of succeeding in the heart of K-pop.

From NYC to Seoul, EXP EDITION has created quite a conversation in the k-pop/music world on who is allowed to do k-pop and what in fact defines it.

EXP EDITION started off 2018 by releasing their Official First Mini-Album “FIRST EDITION” and their title song, “STRESS”.

After a successful debut with “FEEL LIKE THIS” last April which created the controversial debate, EXP EDITION had an event filled year, including a full documentary segment on KBS’s 이웃집 찰스 (My Neighbor Charles), being invited to perform at prestigious venues like 예술의전당 Seoul Arts Center and recently performing on Kpop’s biggest stage, “M Countdown”.

Šime has also made it as a semi-finalist on one of Korea’s biggest TV singing competition shows “Phantom Singer”. He has also recently released a SOLO SINGLE “I Found You”.

In addition to performing at many venues around not only Seoul but other Korean cities like Daegu, Ulsan, Daemyung, EXP EDITION was also invited to perform at the largest Northern European Music Festival, ROSKILDE, in Denmark this past summer.
