Croatia Airlines flight crew are threatening strike action just weeks ahead of the start of the busy tourist season after the airline and the workers syndicate failed to agree on a new collective agreement.
One of the more unusual request from the workers syndicate is the one which seeks a daily “fear” payment for all cabin crew aboard its aircrafts such as the Bombardier Dash 8-Q400. The syndicate is asking for payments of around 1000 kuna (130 euros) daily.
Croatia Airlines, who are in financial trouble and have amassed debts to the tune of around 115 million euros, are reportedly having issues with the syndicates demands to increase workers rights. Croatia Airlines have announced earlier that the company will go through restructuring, which will include staff cuts of up to 10%. Will Croatia’s national carrier face strikes in its busiest tourist period remains to be seen.
