Croatia and Australia have reached an agreement to prevent double taxation.
This agreement will establish clearer rules for both legal and individual entities regarding tax treatment, with expectations that it may increase trade and investment between the two countries.
Negotiations between the two delegations were led by the head of the Croatian delegation, Dalibor Legac, and the head of the Australian delegation, Ronita Ram.
The agreement will take effect once it has been approved by the parliaments of both nations, HRT confirmed.
Upon ratification and entry into force, the agreement is expected to encourage new and strengthen existing cooperation between the two countries.
“The agreement will provide numerous tax reliefs across various income types, improve conditions for the mutual exchange of goods and services, enhance conditions for financial investments, and raise the overall level of economic activity in both countries,” stated the Croatian Ministry of Economy.
Following the negotiations, the Croatian delegation, joined by Ambassador Betty Pavelich, met in Sydney with the presidents of all Australian-Croatian Chambers of Commerce, members of the Government Advisory Council for Croatians Abroad, and several investors in Croatia.
