SPLIT, 8 June 2021 – At the press conference today, Croatia basketball coach Veljko Mršić named his squad of 16 for the upcoming Olympic qualifiers in Split.
Also on Tuesday, the new Croatia kit which they will first wear during the qualifiers was presented. For the first time, the jersey features big checkers, similar to the Croatia football kit. The word Hrvatska is written across the chest. Croatia’s kit is made by Nike’s Air Jordan brand and the logo features on the top right.
“This looks really top-class. We presented our new jersey, and I hope that we will present it to the world in Tokyo,” Croatian Basketball Federation president Stojko Vranković said.
The Croatia basketball jersey over the years has usually been plain red or white with no large checkers it. Now it more resembles the famous Croatia football kit.
The team’s first fan shop, where the new kit can be purchased, was opened in cooperation with Grosbasket.
Croatia will face Brazil, Tunisia, Germany, Russia and Mexico in the Olympic qualifying tournament at Split’s Spaladium Arena from 29 June – 4 July, with only the winner of the tournament heading to Tokyo.
