Croatia beats Latvia to take big step towards Euro 2024

18 November 2023 – Croatia has beaten Latvia 2-0 tonight and have taken a big step closer to qualifying for Euro 2024.
Goals to Lovro Majer, Andrej Kramarić saw Zlatko Dalić’s side brush aside Latvia a the Skonto Stadions in Riga on Saturday night.
After back to back loses, Croatia bounced back tonight and have destiny again in their own hands after Wales could only manage a draw against Armenia earlier in the day.
Croatia is now second in Group D with 13 points and a win against Armenia on Tuesday night in Zagreb will book their ticket to Germany next summer.
Majer opened the scoring for Croatia in front of around 1,000 travelling fans when he guided a cross from the right from Luka Ivanušec into the back of the net in the 7th minute.
After missing the last two matches through injury, Kramarić returned and in the 16th minute he would get himself on the scoresheet.

A good interchange down the right between Josip Stanišić and Luka Modrić, the ball would eventually fall to Kramarić in the box and he would make too mistake, side-footing home.

Croatia were in control of possession for most of the match and keeper Dominik Livaković was not troubled at all. Dalić, who gave debuts on the night to Rijeka attacker Marco Pašalić and Dinamo midfielder Martin Baturina, will be happy that his side made it through the match without picking up any injuries.
Croatia plays Armenia in the final group match on 21 November at Maksimir stadium in Zagreb with kick-off at 20:45pm.
