A significant Arctic storm is heading towards Europe, bringing the first real taste of winter this season.

The storm is expected to form intense systems in the north, which will move swiftly across the continent.

According to Severe Weather Europe, the forecast predicts heavy rain, snowfall, and blizzards in various regions, including Croatia.

Snow Expected in Croatia

Snowfall is anticipated in Croatia as well. Meteorologists at Istramet report that precipitation is likely to begin as snow across much of inland Croatia on Thursday evening, with a chance of snowflakes even reaching central Istria.

Overnight, temperatures will rise sharply, causing snow to turn into rain in areas such as Gorski Kotar. However, by morning, temperatures are expected to drop again as the frontal system moves through.

The Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ) has also issued forecasts indicating that snow cover could extend to lowland areas by Friday as colder weather returns.

Residents are advised to prepare for rapidly changing conditions, with potential disruptions from snow and icy roads in affected areas.
