Croatia has had the perfect warm up for next month’s important World Cup qualifier against Serbia with a 4-0 win over South Korea at Craven Cottage in London today.
Bayern Munich’s Mario Mandzukic showed why he is the Bundesliga top goal scorer when he opened the scoring with a well taken header in the 32nd minute. Captain Darijo Srna then scored on his 100th appearance in a Croatian shirt to make it 2-0 just before half-time. Croatia then showed why they are ranked 24 places above the Koreans when Everton’s Nikica Jelavic slotted home to make it 3-0 in the 55th minute. Fulham’s Mladen Petric, playing on his home ground, then put the icing on the cake in the 84th minute when he lobbed the hapless South Korean goalkeeper after Jelavic put him through on goal.
The friendly also marked the 100th cap for defender Joe Simunic and goal keeper Stipe Pletikosa, and debuts for Franko Andrijasevic and Arijan Ademi.
