Croatia has advanced through to the semi-finals of the European Water Polo Championship after beating Georgia in the quarterfinals on Tuesday night in front of a packed Spaladium Arena in Split.
After winning Group B, Croatia had the luxury of three days rest and started tonight’s match strong racing out to a 4-0 lead.
Georgia put up some resistance in the second quarter, restricting Croatia to two goals and scoring two themselves to go in at halftime 6-2 down.
Croatia showed their dominance in the third quarter and stretched their lead to 12-3 to put the game out of the reach of the Georgians. The final quarter was routine for Ivica Tucak’s side and they would run out the winners 15-5.
Luka Bukić led the scoring for Croatia with four goals, whilst Konstantin Kharkov and Loren Fatović scored 3 goals a piece.
Croatia will now face Italy next for the place in the final of the European Water Polo Championship. Italy beat France earlier 16-8.
