Croatia – Mediterranean Tourism Leader After Record 2012

For the first time ever, Croatia achieved more than 70 million overnight stays in a calendar year. In 2012 there were 70.3 million overnight stays, creating a new record in the countries short history. There were 12.3 million tourist arrivals, up 5% from 2011, announced the nations Minister of Tourism Veljko Ostojic at a press conference on Friday, adding that tourism generated over 6.2 billion euros in revenue for the government in 2012.

Croatia was the shining light in the Mediterranean, recording the highest growth in the whole region with 5% as the map below points out.
