Croatia has recently showcased its full tourist offer at the KITF fair in Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, for the first time.
The excellent presentation was confirmed by the award of “Choice of the year” for the destination of the year, given by the fair organizer.
This was a part of the Croatian Tourist Board’s strategy to open new markets in Central Asian regions, as Kazakhstan, with its 20 million inhabitants, presents a very interesting market with a large number of active tour operators and agencies.
Their representatives also participated in the fair and showed great interest in Croatian destinations.
During the fair, a series of meetings were held with leading Kazakh tourism entities and airlines, such as Air Astana and Turkish Airlines, along with travel agencies from Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Refik Šabanović, the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Kazakhstan, also visited the Croatian stand and participated in several meetings with representatives of the relevant ministries for tourism.
Italy and Slovenia were also presented at the fair, among the European countries. A panel discussion was held on the future of tourism, in which Rajko Ružička from the Representation of the Croatian Tourist Board participated.
He emphasized Croatia’s great potential in this market and the long-term goals of introducing direct flights from Kazakhstan to Croatia and shortening the visa issuance procedures for Kazakh tourists.
