The Croatian handball team have opened their campaign at the 24th Men’s Handball World Championships in Qatar with a win over Austria on Friday…
Slavko Goluža’s side, who are in Group B along with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Austria, Tunisia and Iran, were too good for Austria and won the match 32-30. Captain Igor Vori was not keen to talk up the victory and was keeping his feet on the ground.
“I am satisfied with myself, satisfied with my teammates, satisfied with the atmosphere and the win. I don’t mind if each match we win by half a goal and we collect two points,” said Vori.
Croatia, who last won a World Championship back in 2003 in Portugal, face Tunisia next.
