According to the statistics, the annual birthrate was lower than the mortality rate by 11,273 persons. In 2014 there were 39,566 births and 50,839 deaths recorded. The gap is the highest since 2003.
The number of people tying the knot in the country was also down with 19,501 marriages registered last year. There were 6,570 divorces in 2014. The number of people immigrating to Croatia was lower than that of those emigrating out of the country by 10,220. Last year 10,638 people immigrated to Croatia, whilst 20,858 departed.
Croatia’s population at the end of the year was 4,225,316.
