Croatia’s handball coach Slavko Goluža has kicked off at the press conference after his side’s 29-27 semi-final loss to Denmark at the European Championship..
Goluža, who was almost in tears at the press conference, was critical of the hosts and the referee after last night’s defeat.
“The hosts done all they could to take gold here, everything was sorted out for them, and we lived like animals in three cities! Only when we got to Herning that I slept for the first time,” commented Goluža about Croatia’s preparation, before moving on to attack the referees.
“My players were falling in the centre like it was bowling, not handball. A few years ago I said I would not comment about referees, but now I can not hold back,” said Croatia’s coach, whose side were on the receiving end of some unusual decision from the German refs.
Denmark’s coach Ulrik Wilbek later commented that it was the worst press conference in his life. Goluža later apologised and said everything was said in the heat of the moment. Croatia will now face Spain in the 3rd/4th playoff match.
