ZAGREB, 19 December 2019 – Croatia is set to play France in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final as part of their preparations for Euro 2020.
Croatian Football Federation president Davor Suker said at a press conference after the annual general meeting on Thursday that Croatia will play four friendly matches before Euro 2020 starts in June, including one against the world champions.
“We will play two matches in March, and two matches on 1 June and 8 June. I know you are interested against who but we need to wait a little while until the deals are finalised but there will be a treat ahead of Euro 2020. One match will be played in Osijek and one against France at Saint-Denis,” Suker said.
There was speculation that Croatia would play in a mini-tournament with Belgium and Portugal in Doha in March but Suker confirmed that would now not happen.
Suker also confirmed that Croatia’s camp during Euro 2020 will be located near Glasgow.
Croatia will face England, Czech Republic and the winner of the Path C play-off group between Scotland, Israel, Norway and Serbia in the Euro 2020 group stage.
