Croatia takes silver at European U-19 Handball Championship

VARAŽDIN, 22 August 2021 – Croatia has finished runner-up at the European U-19 Handball Championship in Varaždin.
Croatia lost Sunday’s final against Germany 20:34 to claim the silver medal, their third in history.
The top goal scorer for Croatia was David Jurišić with four goals, whilst Tim Freihofer and Renars Uscins scored six goal each for Germany to help them claim their third U-19 title.
Croatia had a fantastic tournament, only losing to Germany.
Krešo Ivanković’s team were in Group D alongside Portugal, France and Austria and started the tournament with a 35-31 win over Portugal, before beating Austria 37-27 in their next match. In the final group match, Croatia beat France 26-25 to top the group.
Croatia beat Denmark and lost to Germany in the second phase of the competition.They reached the final with an impressive display over Slovenia 26-22 (10-9).
