ZAGREB, 26 March (Hina) – Young Croatian computer scientists clinched the silver medal at the European Student Programming Competition held in Prague from March 22 to 24, the Croatian Informatics Clubs Association (Hrvatski savez informatičara) said on Monday.

The silver medal as well as the placement in the final of the World Student ICPC Competition was won by the team from the University of Zagreb, consisting of Dorijan Lendvaj, Krešimir Nežmah, and Patrick Pavić, all students of the Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science.

A total of 52 teams from 48 European universities participated in the new international competition for students from European universities in programming.

The European Student Programming Competition is a vital component of the global landscape in student programming, fostering the advancement of the world’s future programmers and computer engineers, underscored the Croatian computer science association.

Rooted in the inaugural contest at Texas A&M University in 1970, the ICPC has evolved into a vast network of regional competitions, attracting over 75,000 students from 3,450 universities across 111 nations.
