In the group stage of the Deaf World Handball Championship in Denmark, Croatia achieved six wins in six matches, securing maximum points and advancing to the knockout stages.
After a slightly sluggish start against Serbia and a few missed shots, top scorer, Tomislav Bošnjak, opened the game with the first goal, igniting a steady series of successful plays. Croatia was unstoppable throughout the first half, leading with a score of 16-6 at halftime.
The excellent performance continued in the second half, with younger and less experienced players also getting a chance to showcase their skills, as in previous matches. Croatia maintained control of the score from the beginning to the end of the match, ultimately winning 31-16.
Tomislav Bošnjak scored eleven goals for Croatia, followed by six goals from Patrik Radić, three from Florijan Kolarić, and two each from Antonio Rozić, Ivan Pajić, and Vedran Jakovljević. Ilija Perak, Pero Jukić, Leonardo Vučak, Mateo Perak, and Marjan Turković each scored one goal. Patrik Radić was named the game’s MVP.
“Today, we achieved a victory against Serbia! It was a good match, and we are satisfied. We executed our game plan as agreed. The coach is pleased, we are at the top of the group, and we are waiting for the outcome of tomorrow’s match between Serbia and Turkey for further developments,” said Ilija Perak.
“We have been preparing for the entire championship in the past few months, so there shouldn’t be any major surprises until the final if we play our game and the guys do what the coach asked of them. The semifinals are ahead of us, and we will play against the losing team from the Serbia vs. Turkey match. We have our own path and our own goal, hoping for a victory and a good game in the final!” said Jakov Previšić, the conditioning coach of the Croatian Deaf Handball National Team.
The semifinals will take place on Friday, July 14th, at 4:00 PM.
