Croatia is through to the final of the 2015 FINA World Water Polo Championships in Russia…
Ivica Tucak’s men beat a strong Greece side 5-3 in a penalty shoot-out in the semi-final on Thursday evening in Kazan, Russia, after the teams were locked at 1o-10 in normal time.
The win ends a run of three successive semi-final exits at World Championships for Croatia and guarantees them direct qualification for the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016. Croatia await the winner of the second semi-final between Italy and Serbia.
Wins over Canada, Brazil and China in group play, and a convincing win over Montenegro in the semi-final means the Croatians will go into this weekend’s final unbeaten. It will be Croatia’s first final since Melbourne in 2007.
