Croatia v Canada Davis Cup 2018: Marin Cilic to be Rested

Croatian tennis No.1 Marin Cilic will be rested for the first day of Croatia’s Davis Cup match against Canada.
The draw for the World Group first-round tie, which starts in Osijek on Friday, was held today with confirmation that Cilic will be rested after returning from the Australian Open, where he reached the final, earlier this week.
Cilic trained with the team on Wednesday and it was decided that it would be too much of a risk for him to play on Friday on the indoor clay court at the Sportska Dvorana Gradski Vrt.
His place tomorrow has been taken by World No.181 Viktor Galovic.
Galovic will play rising-star and World No.48 Denis Shapovalov in the second match of the day. Borna Coric will open the tie against Peter Polansky (141) at 2 pm on Friday.
It looks likely that Cilic may play on Sunday if he is required.
Ivan Dodig and Franko Skugor have been named as the doubles pairing for Croatia and they will take on the Canadian partnership of Daniel Nestor and Peter Polansky on Saturday.
