Croatia beat Slovenia 31-26 on Saturday night to claim bronze at the World Handball Championships in Spain. The 3rd place finish means that Croatia have won bronze at the last three major tournaments.
“We can go home with our heads high knowing we gave it everything we had,” said coach Slavko Goluza after the match, adding that reaching the last 16 was the main goal when they flew out of Croatia before the tournament.
Domagoj Duvnjak, Ivan Cupic and goalkeeper Mirko Alilovic were the heroes on the night for Croatia as they over-powered their neighbours. Hosts Spain face Denmark, who beat Croatia in the semi-final in tonight’s final.
