The Croatian senior men’s national team has won the 2022 Beach Handball World Championships which ended in Greece on Sunday.
In the final, which was a repeat of last year’s European Championship final, Croatia beat Denmark 2:0 (24:22, 21:18) to end the tournament unbeaten and claim their their world title.
The gold medal is the 30th medal for Croatia in beach handball and comes a week after the Croatian junior team won the world championships for the first time.
“The final match, the only match in which you have nothing to lose, you can only win. Against the Danes it was exactly as we imagined, tough. This time it turned out that the guys reacted excellently, they respected all our plans, we reacted excellently defensively, especially Valentino and Jurić, who got along great and made it easier for our goalkeeper to defend. This is our third title, something we always strive for and I always have the feeling that gold is coming home and we had that feeling throughout the tournament. And all credit to the guys for an excellent game,” said coach Mladen Paradžik.
