Croatia With Highest Number of Tourists Staying at Private Accommodation in the EU

Croatia leads the way in Europe when it comes to tourists choosing to stay at private accommodation…

According to Eurostat statistics, Croatia is in first place in the EU when it comes to the number of overnight stays at private accommodation with 41.4% of all tourists selecting that form of accommodation. As a result Croatia finds itself near the bottom of the list when it comes to the number of tourists staying in hotels. Out of 64.4 million overnight stays, 32.7% were from hotel stays, which is one of the lowest EU averages. In Cyprus 99.8% of overnight stays were created at hotels, whilst in Malta it was 97.2% and in Spain 73.5%.

Camping was the third most popular accommodation in Croatia – making up 25.8% of the total overnight stays.
