Croatian Air Force saves newborn’s life

ZAGREB, 7 December 2024 – A military helicopter crew from the Croatian Air Force played a vital role in saving a newborn’s life, flying a four-day-old baby in an incubator from Dubrovnik to Split for urgent medical care.
The flight crew of the 395th Transport Helicopter Squadron from the 93rd Wing of the Croatian Air Force, operating an Mi-171Sh helicopter, took part in an urgent mission to transfer the newborn baby requiring medical today.
The transport helicopter squadron, part of the 93rd Air Base of the Croatian Air Force, received the request to transfer the neonatal patient at 11:15 a.m. By 11:33 a.m., the crew had initiated the emergency operation.
The Mi-171Sh helicopter first landed at the helipad of Dubrovnik General Hospital, where the crew collected the incubator containing the infant, accompanied by a medical team.
By 1:18 p.m., the helicopter successfully landed at the helipad of the University Hospital Centre in Split. This operation once again underscored the vital role of the Croatian Air Force in supporting the nation’s healthcare system.
By providing timely assistance in critical situations, the helicopter crew and all members of the Croatian Air Force involved in such missions have once again demonstrated their dedication and professionalism.
“We always give our utmost to use our skills and experience to help save lives, especially those of patients who have only just arrived in this world, with the hope that their treatment will proceed successfully,” the crew stated.
