Croatian architect Lenka Martinović is living proof that there are still people out in the world prepared to help others..
Martinović has just returned from Kenya in Africa where she has agreed to donate her expert skills free-of-charge to design a school in need of serious repairs. The chain of events which led Lenka to Africa came after she bought a bracelet in the name of charity.
“I donated money for a bracelet (in Africa) and asked them if they ever needed anything related to my profession then to just call. Soon after a mail arrived that their school was falling apart,” Lenka told dnevnik, who then found herself on a plane and in Kenya to draw up plans for the new school.
“They are situated in six accommodation units, three for boys and three for girls. There are 250 kids attending that school, and the classrooms and sleeping rooms all need fixing,” Martinović said, who is now back in Croatia working on her design for the school. Her act of generosity has impressed her colleagues at work in her Zadar office.
“We are all so overwhelmed that we would all like to go there and help those people,” said colleague Pavle Marušić.
