Her first cookbook, Croatian Desserts, set the standard for clear, precise and illustrated recipes – a signature style that many recognize as uniquely hers.
Croatian Classics cookbook came out 2 years later and soon won the Gourmand World Cookbook Award.
‘There wasn’t enough space for my favourite bread and pastries recipes in Croatian Classics, so I had to save them for another cookbook’, Andrea tells us.
The hot-off the-press Croatian Savoury Baking features 50 recipes for bread, burek, pies and pastries. It includes the classics, such as pogača bread, old-fashioned corn and rye bread, crescent rolls (kiflice), braided buns (pletenice), soft bread rolls (slanci) and many more party munchies.
An entire chapter is dedicated to the homemade phyllo dough with incredibly detailed instructions. ‘I wanted to empower home bakers to make phyllo dough from scratch’, Andrea says, ‘because nothing tastes as delicious as layers of burek that are crunchy on the outside and moist and gooey in the middle’.
Croatian Savoury Baking cookbook is divided into 5 chapters: bread, burek, pies, pastries and party snacks. All the recipes feature illustrated step-by-step methods, ingredients listed in both grams and cups, and precise times needed to complete a dish.
