More than 60 high school graduates from the worst flood-hit region of the country finally had something to cheer them up last week…
Many had lost most of their belongings when they were forced to evacuate their homes after floods devastated eastern Croatia last month, but thanks to a Facebook initiative from photographer Ana Gorišek, the girls will now be able to attend their high school graduation ball’s in style. Some of Croatia’s most well-known designers have donated some of their creations for the girls to wear on their big night.
The humanitarian action grew after Gorišek invited a high school graduate to donate her dress to someone in the flood-hit region so they could have something to wear to the ball. The action soon gathered momentum and eventually led to girls from all over Croatia, and some of Croatia’s biggest fashion names to donate more than 100 dresses, over 60 pairs of shoes and scores of bags and jewellery. After the truck load of new threads arrived, which included dresses by designers Matija Vujica, Alex Dojčinović, Teo Perić, Hippy Garden, Zigman, Yuniku, Linea exclusive, Nebo, EnvyRoom, Lukabu, Sonja Lamut, Boudoir and ELFS, the girls were invited to try on and select their dress of choice.
