Croatian emigrants from all continents participating in the “United Croatians with Kravat” project in Pula celebrated the World Cravat Day and the 20th anniversary of the entry of the Pula Tie into the Guinness Book of Records.
Organised by the American Croatian Congress (ACC), CroDiaspora, and the Association of Croatian-American Professionals (ACAP), with the patronage of the city of Pula, Pula Tourist Board, and the Croatian Veterans Home in Pula, the World Cravat Day and the 20th anniversary of the Pula Tie’s entry into the Guinness Book of Records were marked in Pula with the opening of the exhibition “United Croatians with Kravat” and the presentation of the eponymous book.
At the Croatian Veterans Home in Pula, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Veterans, the Police Academy, the deputy prefect of the Osijek-Baranja County, representatives of the Istrian County, representatives of the American Croatian Congress, ACAP, CroDiaspora, and many other esteemed guests, Mayor Filip Zoricic welcomed everyone.
He emphasised that it was his pleasure for the City of Pula to host and patronise this important event and that it was an honour for him to open the exhibition, which will later visit the prestigious Uppsala University in Sweden, followed by its multi-year world tour.
Since the initiator of the project, Nada Pritisanac Matulich, President of the American Croatian Congress and Civil Representative at the United Nations in New York, could not attend the exhibition opening and book presentation due to illness, she expressed her gratitude to everyone for supporting the project, especially the City of Pula for its patronage and the Mayor of the City of Pula and his associates, through a letter.
On behalf of ACAP, Boris Vilic, President of the ACAP Foundation, greeted the attendees, emphasising that it was an exceptional honour to support a project that speaks of the successes of Croats around the world, while Danijela Čepo, representing Aspira University, presented the book “United Croatians with Kravat,” emphasising how emigrants from all continents expressed their desire to participate and how the project firmly connected Croats worldwide in a beautiful story.
The program was hosted by long-time collaborator of the Croatian emigrant community, Ana Bedrina, who mentioned that the people of Pula made a tie around the Arena, and now Croatian emigrants want to “make” a tie around all the continents where Croats live.
The program included performances by students from Pula Gymnasium and the School of Tourism, Hospitality, and Trade, while the musical part was presented by Bruno Krajcar and Vilma Gracija Žmak.
The exhibition is also dedicated to connecting Croatian veterans with veterans from friendly countries worldwide.
