Croatian Football Federation Technical Director Romeo Jozak has just returned from an official trip to South America, where he was to build connections with the large Croatian diaspora there…
After previously visiting Australia, Canada, America, and a number of European nations with large Croatian communities, Jozak held a number of meetings in both Chile and Argentina, two nations with a large Croatian diaspora.
In Chile Jozak met with Chilean football officials, and with Chile hosting the U-17 World Cup this year, Jozak says steps were made for the two nations to play a friendly match at that level.
“We had the chance to visit one of the most respected clubs in Chile and South America – Universidad de Catolica, where the sports director there, Mario Buljubasich, is of Croatian descent. We talked mainly about players of Croatian descent, which there are plenty of at the club,” said Jozak.
Jozak also met with Argentinian football federation officials in Argentina.
“We agreed on a friendly between the two U-17 teams if Croatia qualifiers for the U-17 World Cup,” Jozak, who also visited the Croatian Embassy in Argentina, and Boca Juniors and River Plate football clubs during his stay there.
