Croatian Industry Importing More Than Half Its Raw Materials

Croatian industry imports more than half of the raw materials it uses. According to data released from the Central Bureau for Statistics Croatia purchased raw materials to the value of 60.9 billion kuna (8 billion euros), of which 31.98 billion kuna (4.1 billion euros) or 52.5% were imported.
The industry least reliant on imported raw materials in Croatia was the wood processing industry, whilst the food production industry imports 22.5% and the shipbuilding industry 46% of raw materials. Since the pre global economic-crisis year of 2008, the share of imported raw materials into Croatia has jumped 2 percentage points.
