Around 40 products from Croatia’s islands, which carry the “Croatian Island Products” (Hrvatski Otočni Proizvod) label from 2013, will be part of the popular Christmas Fair held on the main square of the capital Zagreb from 13-24 December…
The “Croatian Island Products” project, which was implemented by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Fund in 2007, with the intention of stimulating the islands in the production of original manufacturers and quality products. These are products that are the result of the island’s tradition, research and development activities, innovations and inventions that originate from the island restricted sites and work in small batches.
In 2013 43 island products from 75 producers were given the label, bringing the total number of producers carrying the “Croatian Island Products” label to 145. The 145 producers, coming from 19 islands (Brač, Korčula, Pag, Pašman, Vis, Dugi Otok, Rab, Iž, Cres, Lošinj, Prvić, Krk, Lastovo, Ugljan, Mljet, Šolta, Žirje, Hvar and Murter) and the Pelješac peninsular, produce 409 products such as food, cosmetic and souvenir products.
