Young Croatian tennis player Jana Fett has stormed into the WTA semi final at the Hobart International in Australia.
The 20-year-old, who is ranked 340th in the world, is expected to see her ranking shoot up after an impressive run in Hobart which saw her beat former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone 6-3, 6-2 in the first round.
Fett then blasted past Australian Lizette Cabrera in the next round, before dismantling Veronica Cepede Royg 6-1, 6-4 to reach her first ever WTA semi final. Fett has yet to drop a set in Hobart.
The hard-hitting Croatian will now meet Elise Mertens for a place in the final.
Fett had an impressive career on the junior circuit, rising to be ranked No12 in the world. She was the runner up at the 2014 Australian Open girls’ singles event where she lost to Elizaveta Kulichkova in the final.
Fett’s biggest title to date was at the 2015 Dunlop World Challenge, where she won the singles title, defeating Luksika Kumkhum in the final.
