Croatian law student sets new fitness Guinness World Record

Paula Pudak, a 24-year-old law student from Croatia, has set a remarkable fitness record by completing the most chest-to-ground burpees in three minutes for a female.

She achieved an impressive total of 61 burpees, which averages to just over 20 burpees per minute, Guinness World Records confirmed on Friday.

The record-breaking feat took place at a gym in Zagreb, Croatia, on July 3, with Paula’s coach and a supportive crowd cheering her on.

To ensure accuracy, Paula marked the floor with tape to indicate where her hands, feet, and chest needed to touch during each burpee.

The exercise required her to move from a standing position to lying flat on the ground, with her chest making contact with the floor and her legs extended behind her. Afterward, she had to stand up and perform a small jump before repeating the entire sequence as many times as possible within the three-minute time limit.

Discussing her approach, Paula explained that she aimed to minimise her jump height to conserve energy and maximise her speed. “It takes a lot of practice,” she said, noting that while it’s easier to jump higher, doing so wastes valuable time.

Despite her nerves on the day, Paula remained determined to succeed. She admitted that she almost felt like giving up during the challenging final minute but pushed through with the support of her coach.

Watching the footage afterward, Paula reflected on how difficult the attempt was but expressed gratitude for her coach’s encouragement.

In addition to her passion for fitness, Paula works at a bank and balances her career with her law studies. She first entered the gym seven years ago at the suggestion of a friend and has since become dedicated to strength training, although she emphasises that lifting weights doesn’t necessarily lead to a bulky physique.

Paula hopes her achievement will inspire others to recognise their potential and pursue their own fitness goals.
