Croatia’s Studio Tumpić/Prenc has won one of the most prestigious and oldest design awards in the world – the ADC Award.
For 103 years, the New York Art Directors Club has been honouring the best creative talents and groundbreaking works in design and various creative disciplines with this iconic award.
The studio from Rovinj received the Gold Cube, a gold award in the packaging category, for the design of the extra virgin olive oil Istriana by producer E Pluribus Unum.
The jury, composed of renowned global experts in the creative industry, praised the idea of the Istriana box, which emphasizes a connection to the past through the shape of a specific Roman amphora used for storing olive oil.
The bottle depicts a reconstruction of various parts of the amphora merged into a coherent whole, symbolically giving life to the fragments of forgotten knowledge in contemporary olive growing.
Director Sara Prenc Opačić and Creative Director Anselmo Tumpić received the award in the historic Gotham Hall in New York, with Robert Andrew Anderson, the owner of the Istriana brand, also in attendance. The award ceremony was part of Creative Week, the largest gathering of creatives in the United States.
Creative Week offers a series of lectures, workshops, and panels designed to stimulate discussion, thought, and networking in the advertising and design industry, and also features a red carpet event for the presentation of three internationally recognized awards for the best works of the year.
“This is a huge success for us as we won gold at one of the most important festivals in the world and represented Croatia in the best way possible. We have been awarded many times before, even for this packaging, but this is truly a great recognition,” said Sara Prenc Opačić and Anselmo Tumpić. The award is especially significant considering that some of the world’s most famous brands, such as Adidas, Google, and Apple, were also in the running this year.
This success continues the impressive streak of awards for the Istriana project, which the Rovinj studio executed with partners Wine & Industrial Packaging and CMG Digital.
Previous recognitions include the Pentawards, Best Color of the Year by Pantone x Pentawards, Dieline Awards, D&AD, LIA Awards, and even three golds in three different categories at the IdejaX competition during Communication Days.
Additionally, Studio Tumpić/Prenc was the most awarded Croatian agency at international competitions last year and the most successful independent agency in Croatia at Communication Days.
