Croatian para table tennis duo become European champions for the fifth time

ZAGREB, 13 Sept (Hina) – Croatian  para-table tennis players Anđela Muzinić Vincetić and Helena Dretar Karić became European champions for the fifth time in a row after they celebrated in the doubles competition at the European Championship in Sheffield.

They won the first four titles in team competition, and the last in pairs.

The Croatian Paralympians started their “golden streak” in 2013, and continued in in 2015, 2017 and 2019. They also have a bronze medal from the European Championship in 2011.

Anđela and Helena won team silver at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (2016), and bronze in Tokyo (2020). The duo also won a team silver (2017) and a bronze (2014) at the world championships.

Anđela was a volleyball until she was thirteen. However, after a car accident in 2006, she ended up in a wheelchair.

Helena, a talented handball playe, experienced a similar fate, but at the age of 17 she was hit by a car as a pedestrian and has been in a wheelchair ever since.
