Croatian pizzeria named 14th best in Europe

13 May 2024 – Franko’s Pizza & Bar in Zagreb has been named among the top 50 pizzerias in Europe outside of Italy.
This honour came from 50 Top Pizza, one of the most prestigious pizza guides in the world, who held their awards in Madrid today.
This year, Franko’s Pizza & Bar secured a high 14th place on the list, which is a significant achievement. Last year, they were named the 43rd best pizzeria in Europe outside of Italy.
“Zagreb has become a city where quality pizza holds a significant place in the local gastronomic scene in recent years, largely thanks to Franko’s Pizza & Bar. It’s an elegantly designed pizzeria offering pizzas made with high-quality ingredients, with toppings ranging from traditional to more imaginative options,” says 50 Top Pizza.
They also add that Franko’s always offers a great choice with their Margherita and provides a wide selection of wines at fair prices. Generally, they note that prices are mostly in line with other pizzerias in the city, but the quality is at a higher level. “A must-visit for pizza lovers when in Zagreb or if you’re just passing through,” they add.

The team from Franko’s spoke to Dobra hrana, and they says they still can’t believe the great success they’ve achieved. This year, they’ve been quite active, introducing new items to the menu and hosting several guest appearances by international pizza chefs.
They were visited by, among others, teams from Masters and Margarita, Pop’s Pizza, as well as the talented Suzana Doroški.
According to 50 Top Pizza, Franko’s Pizza & Bar also received the special award “Performance of the Year 2024”, and in the category of ‘Excellent Pizzerias’, the Zagreb pizzeria Basta was also recognised.
