ZAGREB, Dec 10 (Hina) – President Zoran Milanovic has issued a message for the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, which begins in the evening of December 10 and ends in the evening of December 18.
“I wish a happy Hanukkah to all citizens of the Jewish faith. May this festival of light and hope bring you good health, prosperity and peace and may it reinvigorate your faith and hope, which are much needed in these times. I wish you to spend the holidays in joy, surrounded by your family. Hag Hanukkah Sameah!” Milanovic wrote in his message.
Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean revolt against the Seleucid Empire.
Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic has also extended his best wishes.
“On behalf of the government and on my own behalf, I extend my sincere greetings to all Jewish believers on the occasion of Hanukkah, the feast of light and dedication. I wish you to share the joy of unity in peace and solidarity with your loved ones and with all people in need of love and compassion. Hag Hanukkah Sameah!” the prime minister said in his message on Thursday.
