Croatia’s President Ivo Josipovic was amongst dignitaries from over 130 countries and one million fans at Pope Francis’ inauguration at the Vatican on Tuesday. Josipovic even had time to exchange a few words with the new head of the Catholic Church.
“We met and we exchanged just a few words, we mentioned Croatia of course and our entry to the EU and for our first meeting that was sufficient”, said Josipovic.
Josipovic reiterated his support for the new pope and echoed the Pope’s message in his first mass.
“I would point out the pope’s words calling us to find humanity in ourselves, to show solidarity and share care for those in need”, said the Croatian President, who was joined at the Vatican by his wife Tatjana, and Croatia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vesna Pusic.
