Croatian Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković has met with Pope Francis on Thursday 7 April 2016 at the Vatican…
The Croatian head of government and the Pontiff discussed canonisation of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac, Croatians in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the migrant crisis and the recent terror attacks in Brussels. The pair met for around 30 minutes, with the Prime Minister’s wife and four children accompanying him on the visit.
After meeting Pope Francis, PM Orešković will meet with Pietro Parolin, the Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church who has served as the Secretary of State of the Holy See since 2013. Croatia’s relations with the Vatican will be discussed during the meeting.
The last visit to the Vatican from a Croatian Prime Minister was in 2012 when then PM Zoran Milanović met with Pope Benedikt XVI.
