ZAGREB, 12 Aug (Hina) – The Croatian Agriculture Ministry said on Wednesday that produce with quality labels could be found on the EU new portal on geographical indications — GIview — and data from the portal indicate that currently 67 Croatian products are listed there.
The European Commission has drawn up a modern user interface portal on geographical indications (GIs). It offers the public in general, as well as specific interested parties comprehensive information on all GIs protected within the EU (including non-EU countries’ GIs protected at EU level through bilateral and multilateral agreements), as well as on EU GIs protected in non-EU countries.
GIview provides detailed information about numerous Croatian products, including wine and spirits.
Croatia today has 31 products bearing the protected geographical indication label and is among the top 10 European countries with the most registered products.
The portal contains entries about 18 Croatian wines, six spirit drinks and one aromatised wine protected at the EU level.
Also, 11 Croatian products are currently nominees for being awarded EU quality labels, according to the information on this search database.
You can view the Croatian products and more details about them by putting ‘Croatia’ in the county search box HERE
